Hello! And welcome! I'm so happy that you've found The Strength of Teachers! My name is Brenna Nelson. I am a teacher-turned-Certified-Life-Coach and I am on a mission to strengthen and support one of my favorite groups of people: teachers!
We've all seen the stats and read the articles about teachers leaving the classroom in droves. And, for those of us that have worked any length of time in the education world, unfortunately, it's not exactly a surprise.
Many teachers feel overwhelmed and overburdened with the weight of being in the classroom. Few humans are willing to live their lives feeling this way and who can blame them?
It's truly no way to live.
But what's the alternative? What is a teacher to do?
When facing the difficulties of life as a teacher, we are often offered two less-than-helpful solutions.
"Endure. Simply resign yourself to existing in a state of mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion. Spend thirty years working in a job you hate. You may be miserable, but at least you'll get your retirement benefits someday and you might be happy then. And in the meantime, if you're really lucky, you might have an administrator that lets you wear jeans on Fridays!"
"Quit. Just find a new career. Teachers have a versatile skillset that can be applied to many different professions, so you are sure to find something that you like. Sure, you might miss your students. You might miss having holidays and summers off, but that's nothing when you consider that you could be wearing jeans every day!"
Are these the only two options?
Surely, there has to be a way for a person to remain in their chosen field of education AND find some peace and happiness?
The tools and skills I have learned through the certification process at The Life Coach School have completely changed my life! [And this English teacher is not even using hyperbole here!!]
When I began working with a life coach for the first time, it wasn't for help with my career. In fact, I thought I was getting help parenting my own four young children. What I didn't realize is that I was learning skills and tools and mindset shifts that would impact every aspect of my life for the better, including teaching!
The deeper I got into this "thought work," the more I realized how transformative it really is! And I wanted to share what I was learning with my teacher friends! Over time, I realized that I not only wanted to share the things I was learning and my own personal growth process, I wanted to help other teachers experience the same personal empowerment!
Teachers who feel empowered in their classrooms and careers will be able to exponentially increase their impact on their students. AND they'll be able to do it in a way that doesn't feel unsustainably overwhelming.
But I don't expect you to take my word for it. Try coaching out for yourself completely free of charge by clicking the link below!
Trust me, I get it.
Initially, I admit that I scoffed at the idea of life coaching. "Who needs a coach for their life?" I asked. Well, here I am happily eating my words because I believe everyone needs a life coach!
